recipe: sunday soup

sunday is my favorite day of the week. there is something about this day…there’s equal potential for rest and play. it acts as the transitional handshake between a week’s end and another week’s beginning. most often, plans involve a walk without a time constraint, and cooking — food for the lil man and the big people. recently, while bananas and apples baked in the oven for kai’s week ahead, i made good use of a fresh pot of homemade stock lazing in the fridge. although my original plan involved more of a potato and leek soup, vidalia onions serenaded me towards a corn chowder. this sunday soup is of the kitchen sink variety (perfect to rid the cabinets and fridge of what remains of the previous week) and yields enough for both lunch and dinner noshes for days.

Jen - this is such a stunning post. I love it and I am so glad you're back to blogging and posting your gorgeous images. PS: where can I get a fabulous shell-shaped soon? Must have! xoxo

Hi, Erin!
Thanks for your kind comments and for your return. It feels good to be back here.

I think I bought the spoon on Etsy a few years ago. I believe it's a "sugar spoon." Sort of like this one: http://www.etsy.com/listing/101908553/gorgeous-rose-handle-silver-sugar-spoon?ref=sr_gallery_8&ga_search_query=antique+sugar+spoon&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_ref=auto3&ga_search_type=handmade

Cheers,
Jen

This soup sounds wicked good (see what I did there? :) ) And I'm with you- Sundays are my favorite days of the week, too! All of the lazy weekending with none of the Saturday rush.
