Orleans Hill 2007 California Zinfandel
A fine example of an organic, sulfite-free and vegan friendly Red Zin from a producer focused on organic winemaking for 20 years.
Sniff: A spicy lead of white pepper, ginger and clove, followed by toasted oak, blackberry, dark cherry and red raspberry. Slight mineral sea air wafts throughout.
Taste: This Zin is lively, not tender with the usual candied or stewed fruit. Dark berries are brambly and filled with zest. A prominent sprinkle of racy spice, white pepper and cloves. A medium body, tannins and acid charm my palate then mellow quickly into a spiced and red cherry residue.

Sounds interesting. We always see the wines in the organic section in Wegmans but have not tried them yet.
I love hearing about good, organic wines. Will have to look for this.
It sounds lovely, we love zins. Is this a local only wine or can I find it here in the foothills of California?
yay- it is Our Daily Red... I know where I can get it.. thanks for sharing a great review.
Hi lovelies,
Happy to read that you're curious about organic wines. Because there are many wine options in the market, I want to narrow my focus toward a "green" slant. Some of these wines get a bad rap, and I want to share those that are well worth the purchase. My wine finds will be posted on Fridays, so please stay tuned for more.
As for this red Zin, I picked it up at our local co-op market. Here is the link to the winery's site: http://www.ourdailyred.com/ (also linked above).
I suggest reaching out to them via e-mail to discover what markets in your area carry their wine(s).
Cheers!
This is a most beautiful photograph. Makes you want a glass of this wine before I read the description. Have not had this organic wine before but would love to try it.
Tina Marie,
Thank you :) I'll admit that it always feels strange pouring a glass of wine for a photo shoot...I decided that for these posts, I wanted you all to see the wine for itself rather than just the bottle...
