La Marouette 2008 Chardonnay Vin de Pays d’Oc
This impressive white wine is from the Languedoc region of southern France. When I researched this producer, I learned most about the importer, Chartrand Imports. As I often daydream of a multi-faceted career as a writer and petite wine boutique owner specializing in sustainable wines, I admire greatly this importer who focuses solely upon organic producers. I broke this white open after serving yet another daylong session of jury duty. Have you ever seen someone tout a full bag of peanuts to jury duty and proceed to shell each and every nut in a rustling and methodical manner? Oh, I have…
Sniff: Somehow, this wine sings of autumn afternoons both in aroma and flavor. A whiff reveals a spirited lemon zest and peppery spice lingering warmth and sunshine. A breeze catches honeysuckle, petrol, ripe peach and apricot, and an ever-so-slight hint of oak.
Taste: Like the drying leaves scattering across sidewalks these days, this wine is dry and softly crisp. Sip into a red delicious apple, perfectly ripe peach, and juicy clementine. A slight wash of lemon and light spice returns on the finish. Versatile enough to serve with cheese and light appetizers or with chicken sauced in a light cream bath.

For your local fans, (now craving this wine) where did you find it and what was the price?
Some of our favorite wines are from Languedoc region (found on our honeymoon there), will definitely have to try this wine!
Penny,
I believe I bought this wine at Harvest in Central, my usual spot for organic wines. It was just under $11. I’m hoping to begin venturing out to other shops to see what they offer…
Natasha – 5 Star Foodie,
Oh lady, that’s a dreamy location for a honeymoon! No wonder you love the wines :) This region is known for good wine buys. I’m pretty impressed with this selection.
The boutique sounds like a great idea. I know it would be a success in LA, and I know of nothing similar!
SippitySup,
Thanks for this encouragement, Greg. I have much to learn before opening said boutique. It is, however, an idea I entertain quite often.
